Big Gay Movies
Bob Christie and Morris Chapdelaine founded Big Gay Movie in 2009 while making their first feature together, Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride. The film has had incredible success, playing at over forty festivals worldwide and winning 10 awards. It was broadcast on Super Channel in Canada and Showtime in the USA, and in several other countries internationally.
During the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver they produced Out at the Games, a series of shorts starring Mark Tewksbury for Out TV.
Most recently Big Gay Movie partnered with Border2Border Entertainment on the feature documentary Pat Rocco Dared (2021). Dared is a fun, colorful, entertaining, politically relevant and provocative documentary. It is a priceless historical record, a contemporary investigation of social justice, and a deeply personal portrait of an LGBTQ+ hero. Rocco’s documentaries and the community service work that followed remind us that the rights we enjoy today did not come easily, and that there is still much work to do. It has also played at festivals all over the world and can be found on Amazon Prime and other streaming services.
